Founder of Cactus Advisors – a specialist corporate finance, Angel investment and business advisory firm. Former head of Africa Investments for U-Start (largest network of private Multi-Family offices in Europe). Mechanical engineer and Stanford MBA. Jonathan Marks

Senior lecturer and director of the full- time MBA programme​ at GIBS


Jonathan Marks holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, as well as a Doctorate in Philosophy, focused on entrepreneurship, from the University of Cape Town’s faculty of engineering and the built environment. Dr Marks was founding director of the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development (located at UCT) and was responsible for entrepreneurial knowledge management at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

He has taught entrepreneurship, business planning, new venture planning, innovation, corporate innovation and entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking at the University of Cape Town for the past twelve years. His teaching and research has crossed a range of disciplines including commerce, science, engineering and humanities, and has included over 1 000 student projects and business plan projects.


Amit Lev

Trade & Investment Consul at the Israeli embassy in South Africa


Mr. Amit Lev is the Trade & Investment Consul at the Israeli embassy in South Africa. Amit was the manager of development finance institutions department at Israel’s Ministry of Economy & Industry. In this capacity he integrated Israeli companies in development projects of the World bank, IDB, etc. In addition he managed development funds on behalf of the Israeli government in order to expose Israeli technologies for decision makers at these institutions. Prior to that Amit was a marketing & sales manager in an Israeli startup. He was in charge of all global business collaborations with costumers, distributors and integrators in several countries. Amit holds a bachelor degree in information system management from Ben-Gurion University.


Stephen Zagey

ORT JET Chairman


Stephen Zagey has the degree of Bcompt from the University of South Africa and an MBA from the Thames Valley University, UK. He completed his accounting articles at Papilsky Hurwitz and then proceeded to move into commerce as management accountant of Verimark. He has been involved in business consulting, consulting to many multi-national organisations on finance and operational strategic initiatives. In February 2004 he joined Signum Financial Products as a shareholder and director, in debt origination and structured finance, particularly in the commercial property arena. He has also been involved with consulting in the takeover of a listed company, acquisition and financing of commercial properties and restructuring of a property lease fund. Stephen had been consulting to Brian Falconer Property Group since March 2003 on various financial matters and joined them in March 2004. He was involved in all matters of the financial and operational activities of the business. He was the Group Financial Director since 2004, and was and appointed as CEO in November 2008. In January 2011, Stephen and a partner started Siyathembana, a property company focusing on development of affordable housing and property ownership, as well as commercial and retail property. Today Stephen focusses on the finance and operational functions of Siyathembana. Siyathembana has a focus on residential conversions in the Johannesburg CBD.


Dan Brotman

Director at En-Novate


Dan Brotman is a Director at En-novate, a company he co-founded with Investec that believes in harnessing the benefits of globalisation and taking full advantage of the world becoming more connected. En-novate helps business professionals and entrepreneurs do this by curating unique sector-specific one-week immersion experiences to a variety of innovative destinations around the world, including Israel. He previously served as the Executive Director of the South Africa-Israel Forum and Head of Media & Public Affairs at Cape SA Jewish Board of Deputies, and is a vocal advocate of immigration reform in South Africa.
